Merry Table Creperie: Savoring the Moment
The Merry Table Creperie, on 43 Wharf Street, is an example of how wonderful Portland Maine is for foodies. Authentic French crepes, french owners, and wine.
The first time I visited the Merry Table was a few months ago, almost a year after it opened. Many of my friends have said it was fantastic, but somehow I always missed it. I regret it now because it instantly became a place take it easy and enjoy something special. It is a restaurant where not only do experience well made food, but the atmosphere helps you enjoy every bite of it. Relaxed, friendly, warm, and delicious.
The Merry Table is a way to experience a French classic, my only recommendation is go there with company, share appetizers, enjoy a savory crepe, and finish off by sharing a sweet one. It's plenty of food. On that note, don't go to Merry table with a sweet tooth, the sweet crepes will be smaller and not quite a full meal.
I went back for a quick lunch today (the photo is from the previous stop). In addition to well prepared crepes, we had two of their soups: creamy tomato and green pepper. They both made me feel as if I was back living in Europe. By now we've tased some of their savory and sweet creations and believe that it is all good - just go, it will be wonderful.
